Paul Black Design is a design and brand consultancy that provides strategic brand communication, print collateral campaigns, web site development and identity/logo solutions for a host of regional and national clients. With over 30 years of experience working in corporate communications, Paul has been an integral part of the design and advertising community, having worked at such prestigious firms as: Sibley/Peteet Design as a senior designer/art director, Joiner Rowland Serio as head of JRSK Design, and as Vice President and Partner at the communication firm of Squires & Company. He has served as Global Director of Creative Services for GameStop, the world's largest retailer of video games and a Fortune 300 company, where he redesigned the brand look and the company IR site, updated the customer in-store experience and developed several new experiential store concepts (learn more). He was also a Director of Global Brand Identity & Design at AT&T where he was an integral part of the rebranding of AT&T and helped manage AT&T's global brand design efforts, along with the integration of the DirecTV brand (learn more). He then moved to Santa Fe to be the Director of Creative Services for Cisneros Design, one of the region's most renowned brand design firms. Paul now resides in the City Different.
Throughout his career, Paul has lectured on the subject of design and branding, and his work has been recognized nationally and internationally in award shows and periodicals, including Communication Arts, Logo Lounge Annuals and Master Library, Print Regional Design Annuals, New York Art Directors Club, AR100, AIGA Annuals, the Graphis International Annuals, Kit Hinrichs' A Decade Of Typographic Design, along with numerous independent design annuals. He has also won gold, silver and bronze awards from many local and regional shows including the DSVC and Houston Art Director shows. His work is also in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress. He has been a past board member and treasurer of AIGA Texas and has served on the board of the Dallas Society of Visual Communications. As a website designer and developer, he is a WIX Pro Platform Legend developer, the highest level awarded by the world's largest website builder.
As an author, his novels have won many national and international awards including Book of the Year (for genre fiction) from Writer’s Digest Magazine, gold and silver medals from Foreword Magazine, and multiple appearances as a finalist, along with 2 gold medals in the Independent Publishers Book Awards. His books have also won gold medals at the New York, San Francisco and London Book Festivals, and have been on Barnes and Noble best sellers lists. His work has received praise from Midwest Book Review, The Dallas Morning News, Writer’s Notes Magazine, Continental Features Syndicate, Eric Hoffer Awards, and many on-line review sites.
